This elegant silver-plated vegetable tureen, measuring 11” x 7” x 6” high, is a fine example of late 19th to early 20th century American silver craftsmanship. Produced by the Meriden Britannia Company—established in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut and later incorporated into the International Silver Company in 1898—this piece features classic neoclassical design elements, including a variation of an egg and dart border, gracefully arched handles, and finely cast bun feet. The lid is adorned with a monogram and fitted with a loop finial, all hallmarks of the formal Victorian dining tradition. Stamped “Meriden & Company” and “quadruple plate,” it reflects the brand’s reputation for durable, high-quality silverplate meant to withstand frequent use. In excellent antique condition with minimal silver loss, making it a beautiful addition to a refined tablescape or silver collection.
