This striking cobalt blue blown glass egg-shaped tantalus, measuring 10 inches high by 5 inches in diameter, is a captivating example of mid-20th century European glass artistry. Featuring a hinged brass mount and deep saturated color, the form is both sculptural and functional—originally designed to house a set of cordial glasses or small decanters. Though unmarked, its quality and craftsmanship are reminiscent of Bohemian or Italian Murano glass production, known for their vibrant hues and refined techniques. The rich cobalt tone, smooth hand-blown shape, and luminous finish make it a luxurious accent for a bar or display cabinet, but my favorite purpose would be to hold a bouquet.
