This ornate antique mantel clock was produced by The Western Clock Manufacturing Company of La Salle, Illinois, the predecessor to the famous Westclox brand. Dating to the early 1900s—likely between 1900 and 1915—this timepiece reflects the decorative tastes of the turn of the 20th century, with a cast spelter (white metal) case finished in gold gilt and an elaborate openwork design featuring scrolling acanthus leaves, a cherub mask, and intricate Rococo-inspired flourishes. The dial retains its original paper face with black Arabic numerals and ornate center medallion, framed under a beveled glass cover. The back plate bears the “Made in U.S.A.” stamp, the case mold number 3036½, and the “WCMFG” mark. The clock still has its winding key and is housed in a heavy, stable base with rich aged patina. Measures 8” x 10” high. Clock is not in working order.
